Disneyland, Thanksgiving break, and living away from home

It's been a while since I really sat down and blogged. And lots has happened. I'm currently home for thanksgiving break, and all I can say is I LOVE being home! It's so great to be back in my house and see my family that I've missed so much. The semester is almost over and I'm finally feeling more adjusted. The first few months away I cried more then I should have and tried to think of every possible way I could come home. But I'm doing much better now and really enjoying St. George. I haven't decided if I'm going to stay for next school year but I still have another semester to think about that. My roommate and I get along beautifully and you can often find us laughing on our living room floor about who knows what, taking naps in the middle of the day or eating scrabbled eggs for every meals, or pb&j at one am. It's been really nice just having the two of us in out apartment. A little quiet at times but for the most part I love it!

So a few weeks ago we took a girls trip to Disneyland. If you don't know how much I love just about anything Disney especially Disneyland, I don't think you know me very well. It was an absolute riot! We were squished in the car, but that didn't stop the laughter. I love my family and friends. We spent two days at the parks and had perfect weather! I honestly don't think we stopped laughing those few days. Between Maddi and I wearing the just engaged pins, making friends with a lot of the casts members, Emily, Maddi, and Kenna dancing around the park and randomly bursting out into song, or creating inside jokes that we will laugh about for years (who is Jerry?!) it was a wonderful vacation. I couldn't have asked for anything better. :)

Moving to school

The start of a huge adventure…

Alright. Are you ready to hear about my  eventful day? So I had great plans to get up early and move down here and be productive. You know turn in job applications, get unpacked and all that jazz. But by the time I really got up and moving, helped my cousin register for classes, get my car packed up in the rain it was almost noon. Abby and I jumped on the freeway and it was raining really hard. We could hardly see in front of us and it made me a little bit nervous to drive my car in the rain on the freeway. So we stopped by the salon where my mom was working that day and chilled for a little bit hoping for the rain to let up. Well it started raining harder and by the time we were ready to go we were worried that we wouldn’t make it to my apartment before the office closed, leaving us no where to sleep. But no worries,I drove fast. Really fast. In fact I didn’t know that my car could go that fast…

We made it to my apartment building thirty minutes before the office closed. My apartment was ready to be moved into except they didn’t have a key to my apartment for me. So someone let us in and Abby and I started moving all my things up the stairs and down the hall to 5G, where I will be residing for my duration at school. Tired we ate the sandwiches we had packed that morning, set up a few things up and then left again to turn in applications.  I was able to turn in almost all of them and felt very productive doing so. When I stopped at Pizza Factory to turn one in there I ran into the Ellwood's and talked to Lindsey and Chase for a minute. How fun it was to see them! After a bubblegum shake from iceberg, a stop to Target to buy a shower curtain, a diet coke, and mini pancakes for breakfast because all my dishes were not here yet, we finally crashed. At the door to my bedroom that is. I had locked my bedroom door because we had to leave the apartment unlocked due to the fact that I don’t have a key yet. Well the door didn’t want to open. We probably sat at my door trying to get the stupid thing open for 15 minutes. Abby being the little thinker that she is opened it with a bobby pin. In our PJs, diet coke in hand we started a movie that we didn’t finish and called it a night. The first night in my apartment. :) What a day.

My room is pretty much set up. Things are looking pretty cute if I might say so. I still need to load up my fridge because food it probably a good idea. I’m feeling good about things, but nervous like any freshman who has just moved away from home. I just keep telling myself I can do this, because pretty much, I can do this! I am going to be great at this whole college living away from home thing, I know I will.

I slipped…

kdk_0078

So the other day my friend and I went for a morning hike. On our way back to the car we decided to stop and go into this little tunnel. Well while we were in there I slipped in some water. My feet flew from under me, and my head and back hit the cement pretty hard. I was covered in mud and grass and it was too good to pass up taking a picture. Here I am covered in mud. It hurt pretty kdk_0079bad, and I’m still hurting but makes for a funny story!

Dixie State

So I really did have plans on going to Utah State, to go into deaf education, but now I’m going to Dixie and am going into nursing and couldn’t be more excited! While Utah State felt right, Dixie felt Dixie_State_Collegemore right and I’m so excited about the weather. I know that I’ll feel better in the warmer weather. Anyway, that’s my college plan. I’m moving in the middle of August and I’ve already started boxing things up and switching bedrooms with my sister (which turned out to be a huge mess!) But it’s exciting, it’s the next big adventure on my list. :)

Great Grandma's Dress

You might know that I love old fashioned things. Well my grandma has saved some of her mothers things including a few dresses and many hats. I recently found out about these hats and was so excited when my grandma let me have them. So Jess and I went and took some photos in them. This hat is my favorite, if I had some where to wear it, I would wear it all of the time! I wish that I had some little black lacy gloves because that would have bee so cool! This top one with the umbrella is my favorite. 35105_416721744751_88140099751_4353735_7496852_n 35105_416721739751_88140099751_4353734_3986951_n 35105_416721709751_88140099751_4353728_2533380_n

Sweethearts

Well last night was the Sweethearts Ball, and pretty much it was amazing! I went with my friend Mike and we had such a good time. He was a fantasic date, and I'm pretty sure we laughed our way through the entire night. We decided to skip a day activity because a lot of people in our group were at a track meet until Saturday afternoon. Before work I went over to the flower patch to get his bountonniere. With such a crazy week I totally spaced ordering him one, but when I got ovet there, to my luck they had a bright orange one in the case. I then went into work for a few hours were I had the pleause of devaining and pealing shrip and wraping them in bacon. I than came home and hurried and got ready. My cousin had let me use her dress, it was bright, orange, mermaid style, petal sleaves, a round neck and it fun little cirlce and square things all over it. I loved it!

Before I went to pick my date up I stopped at my cousins house to show her the dress and whatnot and to thank her again for letting me wear it. My aunt and grandma and mom and sister and cousin were all there and we took a bunch of pictures that turned out pretty cute! I have the best family ever!

I picked up Mike, some other people in our group and we headed to macaroni grill in salt lake. The resturant was packed and we were all kinda squished together as we waited to be seated. With such a large group (18 of us I believe) and that tiny resturant, we were slipt up into two tables, which resulted in paper airplane throughing and a delightful time none the less. We colored on the table and made fortune tellers and name tags and lovely pictures that including stick people and broken hearts. After a yummy dinner and mikes handful of mints that he took, we ran through the cold back to the car to drive to the dance. The dance itself was incredible! Mike and I danced like crazy, we were spinning all over the places, he was picking me up, we interpretive danced and air guitared to Don't Stop Believing, pulled the titanic pose while they played the theme song (My heart will go on) and I learned that I guy will not drop you when he dips you. For our single pictures Mike and I did the titanic pose were Rose is leaning over the edge of the boat with her arms out and Jack standing behind her. It was pretty funny and I can't wait until we get the pictures back.

After the dance we went to Jodie's house were we ate ice cream and wathced a movie. On the way there Mike was so funny, he had the window down, the sunroof open and music blasting really loud. Great times in the car! I changed out of the dress when I got to Jodie's house, because as fun as it is to be dressed up, it feels really good to put a pair of jeans on and crash on the couch after dancing the night away. A little before one I dropped Mike off and headed home, still just so excited and happy about the amazing night that I had just had!

Old Music

Is there anything better then old music? I mean really. Dean Martin's "That's Amore," "Memories Are Made of This," "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" "Sway," to only name a few. And Frank Sinatra. Oh that amazing voice of Frank. Come fly with me and the way you look tonight, don't get me started! And how could be forget Nat King Cole? Or Billie Holiday? Their music is all so amazing. I don't understand why it's not played more often. Quite frankly, it's 10x better then some of the music on the radio. Do I sound like an old person ranting about today's music, because really some of it is truly awful. Excluding Michael Buble that is. Have you heard the man? One word, BEAUTIFUL. His newest CD, Crazy Love, is one that I will never tire of, along with all of his other albums that is. Abby and I are going to his concert in March. On the floor, 22nd row baby! Let the count down begin! But don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of today's stuff, but nothing seems to beat the big band sounds and soothing voices of Frank and Dean and Nat King Cole, for me that is. :)

College-Go Aggies!

So I thought I would try out this blogging thing. I have a pretty big adventure ahead of me. College. I've been accepted to Utah State and at this point I think I want to study communicative disorders and deaf education. But who knows, I could very well change my mind. Tonight I signed up for housing. I'm planning on living with two of my friends in Snow Hall. I'm pretty excited. I've even started a "college corner" in my bedroom. It has colorful bath towls, a red hand mixer, a toaster, meausring cups and spoons, and a few other things. I've started getting things now and it's making me pretty excited! Now I have to make it through the last half of my senior year. Don't get my wrong, I'm having a great time, I'm staying super busy with student body officer stuff, band, choir, AP english, my....lovely....math class, and all that jazz, but I'm having a bit of seniorities. Don't worry, I haven't skipped any classes, and I don't plan on it but I think I'm just ready for a change. As nervous as I am to move out and live on my own, I am so excited at the same time!
